So here is the story behind my woes: last summer I built myself a gaming rig with a DFI Lanparty board (can't remember the model but it had a rd580 chipset), an AMD x2 4400+ proc, 2GB Gskill ddr400 ram, an ati radeon x1900xt vid card, an antec NeoHe 550-watt psu, a WD 250gb hard drive, and a xion case. I immediately began to have problems with turning on my computer--that is it would frequently turn on, and then shut off immediately; the fans would spin/light up, but then die. I immediately had my psu replaced with another of the same model, but that amounted to nothing. So then I tried replacing my mobo, which newegg (gotta love them) promptly did with an Abit AT8-32x mobo (also rd580). From then on my computer problems persisted, but with less frequency. So I have recently replaced my case with an antec 900 series case, thinking that something was wrong with the power switch, but no such luck. As of right now I have changed my psu, mobo, and case, without solving the problem, and I am pretty frustrated. If you can shed any light on my problem or if you have a good idea of the culprit piece of hardware I would be forever grateful to hear it. Thank you.

I would clear CMOS at first,
then if no change take the cpu/fan apart, clean all the gunk off, and start again.

Oh, and also, have you plugged in the little square 4 pin power plug near the cpu?

Stupidly enough, I've seen this issue be a problem with a bad PCI card. If mon's sugestion doesn't work, try takeing out all the cards and see if the problem persists.
