me.stupidQuestion = Is there any good reason to change the random prefix in your .ini
for a client running rc5 which doesn't have a live connection? will
this reduce your chances of repeating blocks or anything like that?

It was my impression that the prefix= parm is not used by the newer clients, that they use a different scheme for creating randoms.

Ya, the INI file doesn't sotre the prefix now. As for older clients, don't change it. Dnet tries to keep the randoms in a certain range so that it makes stats processing easier, so you'll not only screw them up, but it might not get counted.

woooo how about sneaker net or e-mail??? Get a huge set of blocks put them on a floppy and copy them to the un-networked machine. Then when they are done, copy the out file to the floppy import into another client, and download a new bunch again....

Or use shared blocks, or put up a proxy... ;) The L=FAQ]http://www.teamanandtech.com[/L] will talk you throught it.

i was thinking about the proxy idea.. just haven't gotten around to seting it up yet.

i do flush/fetch the buffers from a connected machine whenever i get a chance to

thanks
