random beeps in win2k, any solution?

i've been running 98se over the summer on my pc and it was fine. but when i got back to school i formatted everything and installed win2k. everything is working perfectly except for one strange and annoying thing. randomly i get a beep from my pc's internal speaker. it'll beep the exact second i press a key on my keyboard, and it doesn't matter what i press because it's totally random. but almost every day it'll beep maybe once or twice and sometimes more while i'm typing something. and when i'm typing, i'm not inputting a wrong combination of keys because the beep will occur simultaneously as i press the key and whatever key i press will still go through, like if i type a letter or something, it doesn't stall it just goes on normally. i was reading some past posts and i think some other ppl had this problem after installing win2k. this never happened to me on my other computer when i ran win2k so i'm wondering if anyone else had this problem or a solution.

my setup is:
msi k7t pro2a
athlon 1.1ghz (not o/c)
512mb crucial ram
maxtor 40gb 7200rpm
ati radeon all in wonder
philips acoustic edge
linksys etherfast 10/100
plex 12/10/32 cdrw
asus 50x cdrom
