random AT&T question

So about one year ago my AT&T phone broke. I went into the store and they told me I was "eligible for an upgrade." I picked out the cheapest phone and got it for free after MIR. Now I want a new iPhone, but still have 1 year on my contract until I am "eligible for an upgrade." Does that mean that I wouldn't be able to get it for the subsidized price of $200, but would instead have to pay full cost? Or, would they just give it to me for $200 and make me extend my contract for two more years. I'm hoping the latter.

TIA,
Mitch

Only way to know for sure is to ask them, but I'm pretty sure they will not give it to you for the upgrade price, since their computers say you are not eligible (such a dumb system). If you replaced your phone 2 years ago, shouldn't you be at the end of your contract life, or did you lock in for 3 years?!

oops, fixed that. Got the phone one year ago but got locked in for 2 more years at that time, so I still have one left. Guess I'll have to call, I unfortunately just missed out on a Blackberry Curve on craigslist for $100, or that would have settled it...

Usually with a two year lock in, you can upgrade equipment after 1 year, with a new 2 year commitment... I have done this a few times....

Contract end date and not the same as eligible for an upgrade.

With good standing (good payment history, no non-paid suspensions/disconnects) you are eligible for an upgrade after 1 year.

If you want to upgrade before you're eligible, you can get the iphone for the early upgrade price of $399 for the 8GB and $499 for the 16GB.
