Random account access. Umm...what?

Something crazy happened a few minutes ago. Several times I loaded a new page in the forum and I was either logged out completely or logged in as a different random member with access to their account pages. I doesn't seem to be happening anymore atm but I thought someone might want to look into it.

I was almost dubious until...

For anyone experiencing this, are you still seeing the forum from another account? Is this happening for you persistently? What browser/OS are you using?

I have not had this happen again as of this morning but I'll keep an eye out for it.

I was using Chrome on Win10 Pro when it occurred last night but it wasn't consistent. I'd say 1 out of every 7-8 pages opened would have me logged in on a different random account. Even then pages were talking 40+ secs to load and would usually take me back to my account if I tried to navigate somewhere else on the forum. I was able to access the account pages twice but refreshing those pages brought me back under my account. I was also redirected to another member's Alert page when I tried to check mine.

I opened the forum from a bookmark and immediately noticed it opened in Jack Burton's account. I verified that there were profile settings there to confirm it was his account. It was.

I closed the browser and clicked the bookmark again. I was in my account.

Opera/Windows 8.1.

Just happened to me. FYI - I am not Jodell88. Profanity deleted. FF48 on Win 10.

This is not Off Topic. Please watch your language.

Hasn't happened to me since yesterday.

I have 2 factor enabled, by the way, so whatever's going on I think it's using my session and not simply logging someone else using my username and password.

This is correct. We're still looking into the matter, but our best guess at the moment is a session caching issue. You won't actually be able to post as somebody else, or access anything on their account. It is a jarring thing to see, but nothing that poses a legitimate risk as far as we can tell.

Our night owl devs identified the problem and issued a fix last night. If anybody continues to run into this problem, please let us know!
