"Random Access" decompression?

I've got about 45k files currently compressed in .rar (my favorite compression; winrar + shell extensions == profit.) Well, the downside is, when I want to look at one of the 45k thousand files in the archive, it has to seek through the files one at a time until it hits the one I want. ie: If I want a file that is stored in the middle, it has to process through 20,000 other files first. It takes a while.

Is there (common) compression method that has "random access" single-file-from-an-archive decompression?
