Ran into 2 of my bosses out last night

I went to a restaurant last night around 9:30 for some drinks at the bar with my buddy from work and his girlfriend. After ordering a drink we looked up and there are 2 of my bosses fairly drunk at a table together who apparently didn't notice us walk in. Male boss in his 40's divorced with a few kids, and female late 20's married about a year I guess. Both had been off work at least 4 hours and a Friday evening dinner meeting would be very unusual.

They looked very surprised to see us across the bar and both had that "I didn't do anything wrong" look on their face. So we sent over shots and they declined and called us over to the table to take them. Talked to them for a few minutes and went back to the bar. The female boss went home shortly after and the male boss joined us at the bar had a few more drinks and said something about not having his kids this weekend. He did not seem all that happy to see us.

The funny thing is that this place is like 5 minutes from work and pretty popular so it would be a very odd choice to meet up. Guess they didn't expect to run into anybody.

Delayed? maybe. Prevented? probably not. Be prepared to get called into the office Monday and get a lecture about keeping "embarassing" information to yourself, I guess.

That would be too obvious. He might, however, be offered a promotion if he agrees to keep his mouth shut 😛

Should have taken pics so you could send them to Human Resources (and her husband) as a backup plan (for your job security).

As an ATOTer, you should know better🙁

Oops, he's already divorced. Guess we know why, huh? 😉

First rule of ATOT: never go anywhere without a camera. Wouldn't surprise me if it was some member of AT that came up with the idea of the camera phone.

For all of those thinking I'm fired, if anything this is job security.

You just cockblocked your boss, dude. Out of a woman twenty years his junior.

Start packin' yo sh*t! 😛

He cockblocked himself by going to a popular place close to the office.

Apparently you don't fully understand how the whole employer/employee dynamic works.

you spoiled his evening plans, what can you expect ?

Ah well, Monday morning is going to be bad for you. Expect them to keep an eye on you all day on Monday. Maybe notice of termination (or promotion 😉 ) Good Luck.

Jump to conclusions much?

I don't see any reason to immediately assume there was anything more than a couple of friends having a few drinks.

Exactly what I was thinking. The human mind is well known for thinking dirty or assuming naughty things before rationale comes in.

Nothing personal though. 😉

Married woman, fairly drunk, hanging out on a Friday night at 9:30PM with a senior colleague and the OP says he could sense 'a look' on their faces when they saw him.

If I was the woman's husband, I would be curious too. Maybe they were working late, just finished and stopped for a 'few' drinks. Maybe it was harmless - which explains why they chose a venue close to work. Or maybe they were stupid.

In these times of increasing infidelity/divorce, you can't blame the masses for expecting the worst.

It could be nothing, but I think it's a bit unusual for a 40ish year old guy and a late 20's married woman to be hanging out drinking together on a Friday night. Sure it's possible (although unusual) that they had a dinner meeting on Friday night but there were no papers, pads, briefcases, laptops etc.. that would indicate a meeting and my other bosses were not there. I suppose it is also possible that they ran into each other in the shopping area nearby and decided to go grab some food.

I know for a fact that neither worked late on Friday as I come in late so am there till the end of the day. Either way they looked very surprised to see me and my buddy sitting at the bar. It wasn't the "hey there's doze and xyz from work" look, it was more like the little kid "I swear I didn't break it" look.

I'm just gonna keep my mouth shut on Monday and see if either tells me anything

you should have gotten someone from your group they didn't know to approach them and pretend they were on a reality TV show about cheaters, or professional affairs.

come monday morning and you're going to get a lecture. wonder if he'll believe that you didn't tell anyone at work about this.

He is single now...has nothing to do on his divorce. Chances are there was nothing going on. I go out a lot of Friday's for happy hours often solo with just another chick from work. Nothing is happening other than harmless flirting at the most.

You'd be surprised at the number of affairs in a large office though...married and single people...most keep in low key though and don't interact at all where others would see them.

I doubt you prevented an affair as it has probably been ongoing.
