Any given sunday...
The lions beat the saints. Wow what an upset, to a point. Look back at the last year and so far this year and you say wow the Lions are awful and if you loose to them then something is wrong. But how many games have they had a real chance to win since the begginning of last year. I can count atleast 10 games that they were in, up to the last few minutes of the game, and if they had a little bit of luck, or didnt choke at the end they could/would have won. So you think just because they were 1-15 that they are awful, its not completely true.
Take a look at Dallas for example, they lost to the expansion texans. Maybe they just played a bad game. Quincy Carter played awful, it was the first game of the season, and the Texans had all the support in that stadium. Dallas had everything against them. Could it be that they really aren't that awful a team?
Sure the Rams lost to Dallas. But maybe they have just had a really unlucky start, much the same as the Lions did last year? Oh, and don't overlook the fact that Warner broke his pinky and had to leave the game early. The Rams do not suck all of a sudden, they have just had a few unlucky breaks. Under the right circumstances the Rams could beat any team in the league. Or loose to any team in the league, it just depends on how the ball bounces. The Rams do have the talent to be a powerhouse though, whether or not they put it to use, and capitalize on their opportunities is yet to be seen.
Eagles are a good team, but they lack strength at the RB pos. Maybe its a bad run blocking line, or a bad RB. Their game is 1 dimensional though. They have the threat of D. McNabb on the pass, and on the run. They however, do not pose a real threat running the ball up the middle and being a powerhouse football team. That weakens their pass game alot.
A few teams that I am extremely impressed with though are the Bills, Chargers, Patriots (still surprise me) and the Chiefs.
Take a look at the Chiefs scores, they are putting up over 40 points a game, their defense unfortunately is allowing that many or more a game as well. If their D can step up they could be a real threat. Priest Holmes is the real deal.
