I just build this system, and of course is oc'in off the bat. a q9450 at 3.5 via the auto oc feature "crazy" on this board.

cpu temps are idling around 32deg's celcious, MB 37deg .. but then comes NB at 55 and SB at 47, both in the red according to PCProbe II. How worried should i be?

under load (calc PI on four cores), CPU rises to 60-63 and NB to 60-62.

? plz :)

Some take the NB and SB off and replace the thermal pads with thermal grease. This gives about 3 to 5 degrees C for most. Some report 10 degrees. There is a sticky at the Asus forums about it. It's about a different board but most of the latest boards use the same system. The boards are supposed to be ok up to 85 or 90 degrees so it is probably not a problem. What are you using for a heat sink? I'm using a Noctua with push pull fans on a 8500 and I idle at close to 40 degrees at stock. All the reviews I read were getting below 30 with this heat sink. Not real happy with this and don't want to overclock until I do something about it. I took off the heat sink and checked the seating, it only had a little more than a dime sized film of AS so I did it over but it didn't make a difference. All your temps are about the same as mine except for the cpu.

Yeah, it's normal. My board does the same... >_< Although, I don't get THAT high of NB temps but that is probably because I don't volt that high AND I have really good airflow. (Not in case and I have two fans blowing air onto the cards and motherboard heatsinks)

Thanks .. as long as temps are within range im fine with that :) .. (but then, why would asus's own utility report a 'red' .. its software and inherently broken and usability fcked? ok :)) .. im using a boxed 9450, so thats the heatsink im using :)

I just put this system together a week or so ago. I got the 830 Stacker for the four fans on the side that blow on the motherboard. Lost one because of my heat sink but I have 3 Antecs blowing at 79 cfm on the mother board along with 3 Scythe 63 cfm front back and top. Along with the two 120s on the heat sink I have 8 120s in there. You would think that is enough. I used my 1900XTX for my first boot and everything went fine, temps were even a lot lower than they are now. Put 1 3870 in and the temps rose. Put the other one in and they got even higher, that's when I started ordering fans. I was trying for quiet but maybe I should have gone with 100 cfm fans. As for Asus probe raise the threshold on the config utility, I don't know why they have the temps so low.
