Discussion "RAMP" on AM5 CPU's !?

"RAMP" was listed as feature for AM5
  • HWiNFO64 ported to UNICODE.
  • Enhanced Intel XMP 3.0 Revision 1.2 support.
  • Enhanced sensor monitoring on some ASRock B660 and H610 series.
  • Added preliminary support of AMD RAMP.
  • Enhanced support of future AMD AM5 platforms.
What is it, we don't know but saying it's extra RAM included on the CPU package is a good guess I would think. We know that after the cash increase they may want to include some special fast RAM as some sort of 'L4'
I think we are talking about 0.5GB or higher.

So IF that is true which technology could RAMP be?
It must be faster than DDR5 otherwise there is not much of a point in adding it except adding some sort of extra memory channel.
A dedicated RAM channel for GPU in AM5 APUs is also an option, in that case I think HBM3.

It could also be some new boost algorithm.....

Don't current AMD CPUs support AMP = AMD Memory Profiles? I would thus say that RAMP is an extension to that mechanism, maybe R means Revised?

It can be a completely different thing though, I agree, but the above is my guess.

Hmm another version of AMP memory profiles that's also possible but AMP was never listed in HWinfo before, RAMP is.
We may find out soon
I hope they have at least one surprise for us. A lot is already expected.
- Zen3D (extra cashe on ZEn3 7nm)
- APU with RDNA2 6nm (Mobile and or Desktop)
- RNDA2 in smartphones
- RDNA2 GPU 6nm refresh (I say refresh because there is no power gain expected from 6nm)
- Some taste of ZEN4 AM5
- FSR on the full frame in the drivers, worse than FSR but works on all games.

But what is the surprise?

I am sure Lisa will talk about Ryzen + Radeon in Tesla Model 3 and Y
