As the title implies. What is RAMDAC. When you go to the hardware wizard in xp it shows it.

How about a RAM based digital to analog converter. I believe it operates using essentially a look up table using digitally encoded data as the input to generate analog outputs... to a monitor or something. I think.....

thats pretty much it ... you have the RAM which the GPU uses much like the CPU but allot faster.. adn then the GPU will only understand 0's and 1's so thats the digital part then it has to convert the data into a analogue signal for the monitor to be able to display an image... although these days you get the old DVI socket on the back of the GFX cards and i think they work through digital outpu instead of analogue althought i maybe wrong ....
