Hi--I have some questions regarding RAMBUS configurations. I have a Dell 8100 1.3ghz P4 w/128 meg of RDRAM. I'm looking up the memory to 256 meg soon. I know RDRAM is dual-channel, so would I need to buy 2 sticks of 64 meg RDRAM or one 128 meg stick?? I'm not sure what the configuration is right now, but I think that there's one 128 meg stick in there along w/something called a CRIMM, which completes the circuit in the second channel. Can someone help me out?? BTW, price isn't really a concern since 2 sticks of non-ECC RDRAM costs pretty much the same as one 128 meg stick...

get PC800 rambus.
you'll have to remove the CRIMM & insert the new 128 Mb of RDRAM in its place!

You cannot have just one 128 in there. You have 2 64's w/2 crimms. replace the crimms with 2 more 64's and your golden...

In your PC there are four rdram slots if you have 128mb you WILL have two 64mb rimms and twoo crimms
to upgrade your must remove the crimms and replace them with two rimms of the same size and speed the speed need not be the same as the two installed but it would be better

to check the speed of your installed rdram look in the bios under ram if it says 300mhz you have 600mhz rdram boooooooo and 400 gives 800

see my rig spec below 2*64 and 2*128

Actually, I do have PC800--hopefully installing another stick of RDRAM is just as simple as installing a PC100 DIMM...

Dude, you cannot just have 1-128mb rimm in there. i850 won't run like that. If you have 128mb of memory, you must have 2-64mb rimms. Replace the two crimms with 2 more 64mb rimms and you got 256...

When you buy make sure you get PC800 RDRAM. If you want an additional 128MB of RAM then you will have to buy 2 64MB RIMM's and put them in. RDRAM on the I850 HAS to be installed in pairs, just like you used to do with EDO RAM on Socket7.

Take out the 2 CRIMM modules and replace them with the two 64MB RIMM's you purchase.

The CRIMM's just continue the continuity through all of the RDRAM slots, any slots that arent occupied need a CRIMM in them.
