Rambus copycat wants a piece of SDRAM money

Another excuse to drive up RAM prices even higher. Since when did we ever have a choice to force manufacturers to absorb (royalty) costs?

Could it be the memory manufacturers are guilty of operating under incorrect assumptions of 'patent-free' in developing and marketing their product?

EDIT: Maybe these companies suing actually have valid patents. If so, they are rightfully due royalites.
 
RAMBUS lays claim to the interconnects between the memory and the controller. This other company lays claim to the process if I remember correctly.
 
Just as long as I don't have to pay Al Gore a royalty every time I use the net. (he did invent it ya know)
