What has the performance advantage...

1gig of Quality PC4000 vs 2gig of Value PC3200

PC4000

OR

PC3200

Does 2 gigs offer more for gaming even considering the higher bandwith/lower latency of the DDR500??

thanks guys.

ok...next question. is there a reason why i should buy a dual kit vs 2 single sticks...

Single Stick

Dual Kit

2 single sticks would be a little cheaper...every bit counts. but, not if the dual kit is better.

Well single kits would do fine
Dual kits are tested for compatibility for dual channel though. It's safer to buy dual kits.
I personally would go for dual
Would the shipping cost be the same for buying them separately?

It's worth the extra $6 to get the dual chanel. Since like AnnihilatorX they are tested together. There would be no harm in just getting the two single sticks though.

Wrong =( 3.83 shipping... each.

So is $250 really out of reach? If your budget needs to be so trim, perhaps this?

Memory speed doesn't do a whole lot for you now days with Athlon 64's. Not even 10% with high bandwidth, low latency RAM. On the other hand... if you're playing a game that constantly has to hit the swap file, the difference is going to be A LOT more than 10%. I vote for the 2 GB of Value RAM.
