Whats the difference between pc3200 and pc4000. I have a DFI ultra and i need to get ram. Im looking at the OCZ vx, but dont know which one of the pc's to get.
PC3200 can work up to DDR400, or 200MHz without OCing, and PC4000 works up to 250MHz or DDR500 without OCing. But PC4000 usually has higher latencies, which hurts performance a bit. Only get PC4000 if you want to OC (overclock). Dont get GEIL PC4000 because it doesnt seem to be compatible with that DFI board. I bought it and now I have major problems...
PC3200 is guaranteed to run up to 200 MHz. PC 4000 is guaranteed to run up to 250 MHz. You will have to OC to get either above that. If you are planning on OCing, the 4000 would OC better, but then again you could save money and just run a divider.
