I bought 2x512 PC3200 dual channel ram advertised as Micron. I never bothered to take the heatspreaders off and actually look at the chips. In reality I am only able to hit 200mhz speeds in single channel mode at stock v. In dual mode i'm only able to go up to 179. The purchase was made a over a year ago so the RMA is out of question.

I'd like to oc how safe can I go up w/ v settings?
The v settings that I have are 2.6, 2.7, 2.8 if im not mistaken.

System:
XP 3000 at 207x11, mem @ 4-4-9, v2.6
Asus A7N8X-De
9800Pro

It will depend a bit on the quality of your PSU, but you should be able to crank the volts up to 2.8 without serious danger.

I got a thermaltake 450w psu.

So if I go up to 2.8 should I be worried about any heat issues? or is ram not as sensative to heat?
