RAM Upgrades for the Compaq x1000

Like many of you, I succumbed to the Compaq x1000 recently. Like many of you also, I went ahead with the stick of 128MB RAM in hopes of upgrading soon. Well, the time has come and I was wondering what brand of RAM ya'll have been dropping into the x1000. I have the M 1.3 with the Radeon 9200 32MB.

I doubt I'll be overclocking or playing any really graphics/system-intensive games. What brand do you guys recommend? What has worked for those (the very few so far) that have actually gotten the x1000 and upgraded the unit? Let me know...

This is a misprint on BestBuy.com. Its actually desktop RAM, they sell no notebook RAM by Kingston.

You'll notice the site says its 168-pin, when it would need to be 200-pin. Plus a few people at the x1000 forums have confirmed it to be a misprint.

I believe you need to get PC2100 DDR SDRAM SODIMM (200-pin). You can get it from Crucial, this link might work. It's like $130 for 512 MB, $45 for 256 MB, and $25 for 128 MB, I believe.

Anyone know about the Mushkin build that features Mosel chips? I've never heard of it, but they've got deals for it now...

How hard is it to replace the RAM in the x1000? Is it easy to take apart or do you need to have a technician do it? I build lots of desktops, but I've never had any experience with lappies before.

Hit the upgrades forum and I believe there's a sticky there about ram compadibility.

I think you can pick up some centon 512mb for around $80 AR.
