RAM Upgrade

Tried a search but search is not working I think. I have an intel d845gbv motherboard which has a FSB of 533 Mhz and am using 512MB 133Mhz RAM. I want to put in a single 1GB 400Mhz RAM module. Intel site says that this MB can take upto 233Mhz RAM only. Then what is the FSB of 533? Can I put in the 400Mhz RAM?

On a mobo with a 533Mhz FSB, the core speed is 133Mhz. It's multiplied times 4 to come up with 533Mhz. DDR memory is doubled the base speed. So 166Mhz memory is really DDR 333. DDR400 would be 200Mhz memory. For your motherboard PC2700 or PC2100 is all you need.

I may seem pretty obtuse but what is PC2700/2100? And will I be able to put 400Mhz DDR RAM in this MB? As per what you have said it is really 200Mhz RAM and the Intel site says that the MB could support "Support for single-sided or double-sided DIMMs (DDR 200 and DDR 266).

Really grateful for any help.

Thanks. It really hepled. Not much point I think in buying RAM faster than your MB can handle because I think by the time of next Processor upgarde even faster RAM will be available. I'll go with the PC 2700 which itself is faster than necessary but thats the lowest that I can get here.
