Hello,

Currently i am using Patriot extreme 2X1GB DDR2 800 4-4-4-12 RAMs.

I want to upgrade it to 4/6GB. I have tried in india abt Patriot extreme and cldn't get it....

So can I add up another brand RAMs like coolermaster/OCZ with the same voltage levels?

Will it be a problem if I add 2GB sticks?

Kindly suggest.

That would depend very much on your motherboard. You should include your motherboard brand and model. How many RAM slots do you have in there? I know that some boards are quite picky with this, some will let you mix it up and others will give you problems.

it shouldn't be a problem to add different sized ram, or different make... on a rare occasion it is due to bios bugs.

Adding more ram (especially high capacity/density like 2gb sticks) to your existing ram may work out of the box, but you may have to adjust your BIOS settings to bump up the northbridge voltage and/or RAM voltage.

Even if you can't run your 2x1gb next to 2x2gb, upgrading to just the 2x2gb will be a really good upgrade.

I just upgraded (i.e. yesterday) in a similar fashion using my Asus P5B Deluxe board. Was able to use 2x1GB Corsair DDR2-800 (rated for 4-4-4-12 @ 2.1v) alongside some 2x2GB GSkill DDR2-800 (rated for 4-4-4-12 @ 1.9v). Having no problems now once I enabled memory remapping. All 6GB seems to enjoy each other's company so far. :)
