RAM Upgrade Question

To get my kids off of my rig, I bought them a cheap little P4 2.5GHz Dell Dimension 2400 for surfing, etc but it only has 128MB RAM.

Adding another sleeve of 128MB would still only give it 256MB and that just seems too wimpy - even for just surfing the web, etc. Would adding a sleeve of 256MB in slot 0 and moving the current sleeve of 128MB over to slot 1 cause any problems??

I heard that it's wise to add RAM in pairs when upgrading. If that is true, why?

For Dual Channel? Otherwise I dont see a problem.
