I have an MSI K7n2 Delta2 MOBO
AMD Athlon XP 2800 cpu
I just upgraded ram from 1 gig to 3 gig and instead of system displaying cpu as AMD xp 2800 2.05 ghz(if I remember right) it shows it just as 1.25 ghz Athlon
The ram I installed is crucial ddr pc2700
Could someone explain why cpu only shows as 1.25 ghz and do I need to adjust a setting in the BIOS or what? Thanks

It seems like your board can't handle 3GB of RAM @ 166 Mhz. Since your stock multiplier is 12.5x, it's running your FSB (& RAM) @ 100 Mhz, giving you 1,250 Mhz.

Thanks for the replies, I shut down the computer to check the bios settings and it showed the xp 2800 cpu at 2083 MHz, FSB @ 166MHz so I rebooted and now system shows the AMD XP 2800+ @2083 MHz, so everything appears to be alright now. I don't know if just rebooting allowed the BIOS to reset the values or what corrected it but seems to be fine now.
Thanks

I guess it just lowers the values to default when you put in new memory sticks.
