Hi guys,
I've recently been having some serious trouble with the RAM in my system. Here's my specs:
ASUS A7N8X-E Deluxe mobo
Athlon XP 2500+
2x256MB Corsair XMS3200 400mhz cl2
1x512 Mushkin PC3200
Sapphire Radeon 9600 Pro
The problem is that whan I have the Corsair chips installed, about 9 out of 10 times my computer freezes at the POST, right after the CPU info shows up, and sometimes a few K into the memory test. And that 10th time that I actually boots, Windows inevitably bluescreens in the near future. The only way I've gotten it to stay stable is by taking out the Corsair chips and leaving the Mushkin in the third memory slot.
All my BIOS settings in regard to memory are default, as I'm no longer OCing this rig (doing so fried my last mobo, so I decided to stop OCing).
So when I finally found out that taking out the Corsair chips would let my machine boot reliably, I figured my computer was fixed (though a bit crippled). Alas, it was not to be. Now sometimes when I begin browsing my hard drive, my whole computer freezes up for 20 secodns or so. I think it's some kind of really low level hardware read failing and timing out. Does anyone recognize that kind of problem?
