RAM Timings

Do timings really make a difference on actual real life performance? Studies ive seen have shown like, 5% max...lame

Besides that, id like to know how to lower them anyway. Can anyone help me lower the timings?

Yes timings make a difference. While you may think a 5% increase in performance is "lame", think of it as a free CPU upgrade. In some cases you will gain more than 5%. All depends on the application though.

Now that low-latency DDR is again becoming common and fairly cheap, (almost all manufacturers have come out with 2-2-2-5-T1 PC3200+ within the past few months.) I think it's worth the reletively small price premium for the added performance.

Would you rather have a P4 3000MHz with cheap RAM, or 3150MHz+ (equivalent) with decent, low-latency RAM?
