Ram Timings, what are they, how do they work?

Ok when it comes to Ram timings I am a complete newb. I bought these the other day. Supposedly they have 2-2-2-5 timings. What the hell does that mean? And right now my mobo is posting higher timings. I don't know which ones to change in the BIOS and have no idea what changing the timings really does. Overclock = worse timings? And what is 1T vs. 2T? I know 1T is better but what is the real difference.

Somehow I think that RAM would have been better suited with s939 mobo instead. I don't pretend to be an AMD expert, but IIRC, s754 sees no benefit from running dual channel mem kits, especially hi-po RAM.

Sorry, I didn't even bother to address your original questions. I guess maybe wait till someone else chimes in that might be up to the task of typing the really big words required in order to explain these complex questions. In the meantime, check out this link...it's not very technical, but might help you understand a little better. Don't be distracted by the references to the Intel rig they are working with, just concentrate on the more important things, like tRAS, CAS, and whatnot. Good luck. :)
