Ram timings sound off

Hi,

I've got the Crucial Ballistix BL2KIT12864Z503 2GB kit (1GBx2) 184-pin DIMM (2gb) kit (PC4000), and the timings on the website are:

3-4-4-8

Checking my BIOS today though, where it's set to automatically handle memory timings still, it said this:

Memclock Index Value 400mhz
CAS# Latency (Tcl) 3T
Min RAS# active time (Tras) 8T
RAS# to CAS# Delay (Trcd) 3T
Row Precharge Time (Trp) 3T
Row Cycle Time (Trc) 11T
Row Refresh Time (Trfc) 14T
Read To Write Time (Trwt) 5T
Write Recovery Time (Twr) 3T
1T/2T Memory Timing 2T

So the CAS# is right, but Trcd and Trp are one below, Tras is ok, and CMD isn't listed (is it also called something else?).

Searching online, it looks like that it won't matter, but I was just wondering if anyone had any thoughts good or bad on it.

Thanks for reading!

Manufacturers usually give out pretty conservative timings. As long as its stable, go with it.

As a side note, sometimes automatic settings don't give accurate readings of what timings you are using. Check cpu-z to make sure you are really at 3-3-3-8...

You're running the memory slower than it's rated speed for the stock timings so they automatically tighten up.

wow I didn't even read it was pc4000. Yeah, ram has different SPD values for different fsb speeds.

Oops, haha, I didn't notice that either. Too busy looking at the timings 😛

I set it to 500mhz (and now the timings are the same as listed yeah), but now the CPU has automatically slowed down to 2ghz instead of 2.2ghz (AMD X2 4400+) with FSB 250mhz x 8 multiplier. Upping the multiplier by 1 would get it back, but I just tried it with ASUS Booster and it froze right away (temp is still fine, around 45 degrees). So naturally I'm a bit nervous to try again. Any thoughts?

Thanks!
