RAM Timings on an Asus A8N SLI Deluxe

I am running 3-3-3-8-8-12 on my computer....tried to run 2-2-2-5-5-10 and failed...then...today I found what could be my problem...somewhere I read this formula:

TCL = 3
TRCD = 3
TRP = 3
TRAS = 8
TRC = TRP + TRAS (11)
TRFC = TRC + 3 (14)

Is this some sort of general knowledge formula I dindt know...or someone just made it up?

Yeah I've always wondered what to set those other timings too when I adjusted the 4 main ones.

Yes those are the "standard" formulae for setting the 2 timings-I believe they are from the JEDEC specs but can't find a reference right now. With that being said it depends on the RAM and memory controller, whether via traditional NB or on CPU die what you can actually run. I am running my DDR at lower numbers(ie faster) than the formulae would indicate and am stable, but again YMMV.
