I don't if everyone knows this, I didn't when I built my current rig 1.5yrs ago. RAM timings will give you 1%-3% improvement over higher CAS RAM. Is it really worth spending an extra $100 or more for CAS 4 rather than CAS 5? Only if you're a hardware e-penis nut IMO. Benchmarking may be your only way to *notice* your extra money at work. If you want performance take speed over CAS latency any day. Some of you already know this but I'm not talking to you, I'm talking to the one like me a while back that could save some $$ and apply it to another component of their build. There used to be a thread here about this topic and its results. Anyways, thats my rant. I hope I saved you some bucks.

i dont see what DDR 400 has to do with CAS... but be that as it may, 1-3% performance for an extra 100... mmmyap. RAM should be the LAST thing you should go high performance with... even then, it makes much more sense to buy MORE ram then faster ram...

Unless you're a synthetic benchmark and overclocker freak, then no, there's little point to spend an extra hundred just for a little bit faster CAS.

And "More" is still better than "Faster" nowadays.

Not necessarily. Depending on the amount of RAM used by the system on normal operation. for example:

PC1: System uses 1GB normal usage and has 4GB installed running @ 667Mhz

or

PC2: System uses 1GB normal usage and has 2GB installed running @ 800Mhz

Obviously the second machine will run faster.
