RAM Timing Support

Have RAM that is suppose to run at 2-3-3-6 but it's running at 3-3-3-8. When I go into the BIOS and try to force it to run at the timings it's suppose to I can't even post. So have to bring everything back to default in the BIOS. Would this be a memory issue or more of a motherboard not being able to handle it issue?

Motherboard- EPOX 9NPA+ Ultra
RAM- Corsair CMX512-CL2Pro (2 sticks of this)

What voltage is your ddr running at? It maybe starved for power and thus a bump in ram voltage shouldn't hurt. Make sure you check corsair's website to see if it's okay to turn up the voltage. I have my memory running at 2.9v.

Also, in your bios when you set your ram to run "at SPD" what timings does it default to? If it doesn't default to 2-3-3-6 "at spd' then that would raise a red flag. I'd try to check part no. against what corsair says on their site. If you bought the ram second hand, i'd be skeptical if the person mis-advertised the timings.

edit: took a look real quick for you
memory part listings notice the asterik
was noted "These parts support 2-3-3-6 latency on Intel platforms, and 2.5-3-3-6 latency on AMD platforms."

Try your memory at 2.5-3-3-6

Ahh, thanks, will try it at 2.5 then. I mean the reason why I went 2x512 over 1x1024 is for the tighter timings. Was feeling robbed with 3-3-3-8

What speed are you running the ram at? Some mobos will override your manual settings when you go above a certain speed or use certain ram multipliers. Be sure to validate your settings using CPU-Z, many BIOes will lie even if the system posts and boots into windows.

Using CPU-Z for it.

It's running at 200MHz but with lesser timings. Wondering if it's the board ( I don't like the board anyways because of the placement of the power connector so I guess I am trying to find anything wrong with it that will make me justify that it's ok to go out and buy another motherboard 😀 )

Yep, it's your mobo thinking it's smarter than you! lol Toss that mobo!

I was thinking that in the simple fact that I bought this RAM because I intended to OC the CPU and wanted to have some headroom within my memory.

Who told you! I thought I was being very descrete with my addiction to hardware!
