Ram Speeds wrong on VNF3-250

I have a 2800 64 and a VNF3-250 MB. I also have two sticks of 512 ddr 3200. One is Munshkin and the other I believe is a samsung. The computer runs good except for one thing. The ram only runs at 2700 speds (333). When I run them separatly they run at there right speed ddr 3200. I have the bios setting for the ram at auto which is 1:1 from what I read, but when they are together they will not go the correct speed. (I also have updated the bios to the newest revision)

Now my question here is can I fix this. I have tried everything to no avail and that is why I am posting here now. Also if I can't fix this without buying different ram will this hamper my system performace (mainly games). I also have the HT set to 4 if this helps.

Sorry for the long post but this has been troubling me for a month now. (Getting ready for HL2 tomorow)

Thanks

Use manual settings. Heard of ram defaulting to 333mhz when 3 sticks are used but not 2.

The only settings are 100 166 and auto. I have read that auto is 1:1. They have no setting for 200, just auto. Thanks for the reply.

Yes, I am running the latest bios, but am afraid to use a beta bios. What are the pro's of the beta bios?

none as far as I can see,it's very stable.

Have you tried putting you ram in slot 1-2 or 1-3 never use 2 -3 .

yes, I tried all slot combinations. Could it be that the ram just does not like each other, because they run at correct speeds separate, but I want the gig of ram. Will my games be effected by the ram speeds? Will I have problems overclocking when I want to? Like I said I think I tried everything, even playing with the ram timings which most of the time The computer wouldn't boot and I had to reset the bios jumper.

Thanks for all the help!

If it's truly pc3200 ram then no it shouldn't hinder your overclocking, set you ram to 166mhz and then the fsb to 245 this will give you ram speed of 200mhz with a cpu of 2.2ghz. :)

If that don't boot i suggest you try 2T timing,it's the setting under the ram speed.

Thanks for all the help Budman. My ram will only boot at 2.5T. Also will running my ram out of sync with the cpu hamper performance? I could overclock to 2.2 but I am using stock cooling and don't think it will work but even then, my ram will still be running out of sync with the cpu.

Yes keep you ram cas a 2.5 or even 3.3.10 I was talking about the other setting above in in your bios, selections are 1T or 2T and running your ram out of sync will not hurt anything because the higher mhz from OC will offset that easy.

there's no problem oc to 2.2 with the standard heatsink I am doing that now on stock voltage and don't freak out if the temps seem high it's because that mobo doesn't correctly show the real temps if you have a newer CG stepping.

My cpu temps are 53 idle & about 67 full load but the heatsink is barely warm. using the original bios ver 1 my cpu temps were 20 c lower so don't worry about your temps unless you start seeing 80+c . ;)

I'm having the same exact problem as the original poster of this thread. I have tried just about everything mentioned in this thread except o/cing o fix it. Are Mushkin sticks not properly compatible? I don't know what to think, memtest86 gave no errors.
