Ram Speed / FSB

A quick question about FSB and ram speeds. Set up is a 650i board, 6400C4 corsair ram (4-4-4-12), E6600. I have my system currently OCed to 1332 in bios (333 FSB). Now my question, would the system be faster overall if I set my memory speed to 667? If the memory and FSB are at these timings my understanding is that this would be 1:1, which is good. Now my other option, would be to push my processor to a higher FSB and leave the memory at 800. But if I understand things correctly this would push the ratio to an odd timing, somehting like 4:5. I doubt I can hit 400FSB which would also put the ratio at 1:1 provided I ran the memory at its default 800Mhz. So, for overall performance is it better to try to OC the processor near 3.4Ghz and have memory running 800Mhz with an odd ratio or stick to 3.0Ghz with memory running 667Mhz and a 1:1 ratio?

Your win on two counts with the former. Your CPU is faster, and your memory is faster. I don't see the ratio as important as the speed the memory runs at. And in any case the CPU speed is likely to gain you more than the memory speed.

90% of the time cpu speed is more important then the ram speed, unless your seriously underclocking your ram. Try to get your fsb up, so your cpu runs at 3400. It's at least worth trying, and should be doable with a e6600, this is all assuming your still way below max temp under full load. Theres some nice guides around, and most of the threads I see are about oc-ing c2d's, so I'd check those out, and try to establish what your max fsb is.
