Ram speed and timmings

I've read the replies of the last OCZ PR , they say how important the timmings are at higher speeds, but I've read that ddr2-800 at 5-5-5 timmings the same as 2.5-2.5-2.5 timmings at ddr2-400 speed, meaning that timmigs at higher speeds aren't as imortant as timmings at lower speeds?
So doesn't that mean that ddr2-800(5-5-5)>>>ddr400(2-2-2), but for some reason people bash the ddr2-800, say it sucks because of the 5-5-5 timmings...
Anyway, won't the DDR2-800 5-5-5 OWN a ddr-400 2-2-2 setup? (with fsb speeds that can take advantage of the speeds)?
and can you explain exactly how timming and speed effect ram performance?
Thanks.

I'd suggest doing some searching... these questions have been asked many times before.

You might want to read this post for more information on bandwidth versus timings (at least on Athlon64 platforms). Intel platforms care a LOT less about timings, and just need more raw bandwidth, which is why Intel jumped to DDR2 much faster than AMD.

It all depends on what you're doing with it. I'm sure my DDR600 system will cream most DDR2 systems for the price that I paid for mine.
