Okay,

I want to push my OEM ATI 8500 a little bit. So I would like to add some RAM sinks to it.

I know that you can get Tin Plated ones from Sidewinder computers but they cost $31 a set.

Does anyone make such things (they need not be made of copper or tin plated) for a more reasonable price. I'm looking for something that works better than no cooling but doesn't have to be the ultimate.

Oh, and the custom ones from zxmods.com are a little goofy looking.

Thanks!

Goto an electronics surplus store. You can find a real nice selection. I got some big heatsinks that works great for my geforce2, they were a quarter ecah.

Dear god... I just went ot the sidewinder computer, they have a fan/ram combo for your video card for $52! I could buy a very nice video card for that.

The solution to this seems to be to buy the ThermalTake DIMM heatsink/spreaders. I can use the spreaders for my RAM and take the two heatsinks and use them on my video card.

$10 per set. (Probably get two sets so that my RAM doesn't look silly. One stick dressed up and the other not.) $20 total and I don't need to buy any thermal epoxy. :)

Maki: I don't know where you're located but Fry's routinely puts ThermalTake's ram heatspreader/video heatsink kits for $6.99. If that doesn't work for you, get them for $8.99 from Fry's online.

Thank you! Shipping was going to kill me. And the other sites I found this kind of stuff on weren't working right.

I like the part where they have "view similar items" and it had Gladiator the movie there.

There are a lot of sites that sell that kit. SVC (?) I think has free shipping and had them for $10ish.
