Processor: Q9550; MoBo: ASROCK P43DE3
RAM: OCZ Gold 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800)
Video card: GIGABYTE GV-N96TZL-512I GeForce 9600 GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3
PSU: 500 W; OS: Windows 7 Ultimate

I'm a newbie so pardon my lack of jargon and the wire clutter in the comp. case.
1) I've run all the updates, but when I run Photoshop cs4, comp. crashes sometimes - memory dump, blue screen of death - check your memory
2) I just added a 1TB HD in addition to the existing 1TB HD and it seems to crash more often.

So I'm guessing it's either RAM configuration problem, or less powersupply.
Can anyone please suggest RAM tweaking in BIOS to get 1600 MHz, currently it's sitting at 1333 MHz - how do I bump it up? I already updated bios from asrock website.

MoBo runs at 1600 (OC) and it has advanced settings available in the Bios, but not sure what numbers to set for the RAM to get it to run at 1600MHz

Go into your bios and check to see your ram multiplier. Mine was defaulted at like 8, which lead my ram to boot at 1066mhz. You might not even be able to max out your ram to 1600 like this. I keep mine underclocked so it will last longer. It doesn't change the performance noticably.

well, the computer crashes once in a while with the "blue screen of death" and says memory dump. Also, a window pops up on startup with the message of problems with RAM. So I ran Memtest 86 and it showed some failed sections. So, my guess is that I'm not setting proper voltage for it to run properly.

I could be entirely wrong, and just that the memory stick might have problems with it.
What do you think?

I have really similar OCZ RAM (not gold, but it's DDR3-1600 with more or less the exact same rated timings as yours - I think it's sold as a certified Core 2 Duo dual channel kit or something) and I get the exact same thing. Stable as anything at 1333 speeds (even undervolted with really tight timings, I run mine at 1.7V 6-6-6-20 I think) but is just not happy at 1600 with any combination of settings.

You know how that RAM is suspiciously cheap? Yeah... I suspect it's just not up to 1600 speeds.

1333 with tight timings is every bit as fast in just about any situation, anyway.

Hi Allio,
Thanks for the response, cheap stuff on Newegg - got it on some rebate. Anyways, I run mine at 1.65 V 8-8-8-24 - checked on the ocz ram website for the nos, but still unstable. last week I tried to run the cpu at 800MHz (instead of Auto - 333), that bumped up the RAM upto 1600MHz, but the 2nd number was running at 13600, when actually the mem sticks are rated for 12800. Well, the computer would come to boot screen and then crash, did not even let me hit F2, to reset to lower values. Was sh&&&ng bricks that I had fried the MoBo or something. So I unplugged the power supply, waited 10 min and restarted and it let me go to F2, where I reset the cpu back to Auto and have been running it at lower levels since. play it safe D:
