RAM screwing up?

I had my ram running at like 306 or so FSB, I was playing CS:S and starting lagging like crazy. The floor in the hallway in the Dust level also sometimes had purple speckles. I know it's not a CPU problem, my CPU blew though P95 no problem, and my 6800GT is running at 370/1000 which is stock for the BFG so the last thing was the ram. I then lowered it to 260 and upped the multis to 10x and it doesn't happen anymore. Is lagging and weird colors a normal symptom of ram crapping out?

if the ram was crapping out you'd get blatant program and windows crashes. that seems really far to push an AMD64 if your running 1:1 divider. my guess would be that its just the internal memory controller getting really flakey at such a high FSB.

yeah, use a devider.

another thing is, if you change the video settings for CSS or HL2, always quit the game and get back into it. sometimes i got purple specks when i
changed the AA setting and ran the stress test
