I have a DFI motherboard that uses the nFoce 3 250 Gb chipset. When you install 3 single rank sticks of memory, it runs the PC 3200 DDR at 333 instead of 400 MHz. You can tinker with the BIOS and force 400, but it may result in instability.
2 questions:
How much of a performance difference is there from 2 Gb PC3200 running at 333, vs 2 Gb running at 400?
When it runs at 333 the BIOS lists this being 1T, when I force 400 it says it's 2T. What do 1T and 2T refer to as well, please?
It seems an odd design decision to make memory run slower than it is capable, but then again I know nothing of motherbaord architecture.
