Hey, I just ordered a gig of PC3200 corsair ram - http://shop2.outpost.com/product/4452326 - I currently got 512MB of PC2100 ram(2 different sticks, 256MB each) with the following timings: 2-3-3-6 after overclocking. Now my question was, when I get the 1gig ram, should I use it alone or should I combine my current ram with it? Some people are saying to never mix different ram and some are saying that more ram is better than the speed. What should I do? Any ideas? More, slower memory or less, faster memory? Thanks!

Edit: The corsair ram cost me 72 bucks with rebate and shipping. Without shipping, it would be 65 bucks. The rebate was for 10 bucks and corsair ram was down to 75 bucks for about 5 days.

Just run the PC3200 (the ram you ordered) by itself until you can get more of the same kind (ie, more PC3200 RAM)

use only the 1gb that you ordered. i would say mix it but if your old ram is PC2100, all the ram sticks, including the pc3200 ones, will operate at PC2100 speeds. it's too much to sacrifice IMO

The 2 sticks of old ram is PC2700 not PC2100. It was my mistake. I know the difference between PC2100 and 3200 is much more than between PC2700 and 3200. Also, I didn't include enough information cause i typed it in a hurry yesterday. Anyways, I will be using the ram for BF2 and want to play with as high settings as possible. I got an opteron 144 overclocked to 2.2 Ghz, Epox 9npa+ ultra and 6800GS and I was told to upgrade the ram if I am to play the game at almost high settings. I hope this makes it a little bit more clearer than what I typed before. Will I get better performance with faster, less memory or more, slower memory? All I want is the best performance with medium/high settings - I could careless about anything else.
