RAM Question

My wife has kindly offered to buy me RAM for Christmas. I figure that we should pick up a stick of 512, but I've just read that mixing a 256 stick and a 512 stick is a bad idea. Is this true? And if it is, what are some suggestions?

For the record, I have an ASUS A7N8X-VM/400 with an Athlon 2400+ CPU.

Shouldn't cause any trouble if it's the same brand and rated the same. However for dual channel they say to use the same size.

For how cheap it is, you should probably just pick up some Corsair VS, which is hovering at about $70 right now for a 1gig, 512x2.

How romantic ;)

Yes, a good rule is to always stick with the same brand and rating.
