I did a search but couldn't find the exact answer. I am building a new computer with an FX-55 and 2 gig of ram. I will not be overclocking, what is the best ram to use and in what configuration? What exactly should I be looking for? 2 sticks of 1 gig? value RAM?
thanks folks.

Okay, good point and information to have, what would be a good choice of motherboard for the system I am building? A non-overclocked fx-55 with 2 gig of ram.
Thanks!

I'd recommend the ASUS A8N-SLI Premium, which is based on the A8N-SLI -- my A8N-SLI's been running stably in my system for about 4 months, overclocked/not.

The only possible snag is that my mobo cannot use 1GB memory modules with 128Mbit chips, so you may have to either look hard to find one that use 64Mbit chips, or use 4 sticks of 512MB RAMs.

Other than that, I use 2 X 512MB Corsair Value Select RAMs overclocked 1:1 @ 233FSB, running stably.

Probably the 2 X 1024MB stick RAMs

but the difference will be too slight to be noticeable

Not sure whether you can set the mem Command Rate to 1T, when using the 2 X 1024MB stick RAMs, in which case would then make a lot of difference (the Athlon64 up to the Winchester core has a memory controller limitation which only allows 1T command rate when using only 2 sticks of RAMs)

But the newer Athlon64 core Revisions may allow 1T command rate even when using 4 X sticks of RAMs.
