Ram Question

I have 1 Gig of that cheap Valueram (pc2700) and sometimes when I play farcry i notice a stutter in gameplay. I realize my computer isn't uber, but its still decent. Just wondering if its either my HD (W.D. 120 GB 7200 RPM and Seagate 40 GB 7200 RPM) or the ram. I know its not the vid card or processor

Also whas the difference between XMS Corsair and just reg Corsair? Any ram suggestions are welcome

what resolutuon do U play it @ .... I dont have any issues playing it @ 1280*1024 with every thing medium and no AA or AF .... get 60+ FPS ..... added another 512MB ram and its running in dual channel

With a gig of ram, Far Cry shouldn't be using any virtual memory. Possible I suppose, but most guys who use 1gb don't have any problem. Even with the valueram, the "quality" shouldn't be an issue. I suppose it is possible that when it loads something new from the hard drive that it may take a second to load it. Like when it loads a texture for a new guy you have just seen this round or something. know what I mean?

It could be your power supply. Yeah, I know alot of people blame the power supple for alot of things but I would look there and then turn off most of the programs running in the back ground to see if any of them start up and run while you are playing the game. If you have a lot of icon by your clock this could eat up resources and cause stuttering.
