OK a few questions...

I am using the asus P4P800 E Deluxe Board

1) Does Cas Timings (eg 3.0-4-4-8) do these change performance alot in gaming and/or video editing?

2) Is it possible to have 2x dual channel by having 4x 512mb?

3) Is there any way to change cas timings, if so what is a nice o/c to do on it?

Yes, Cas timings do affect the overall performance but to what degree is up to you to decide. There are alot of different variables involved in changing performance like video card, memory, processor and motherboard. You could change the timings to 2.6-3-3-11 to start. I would change one thing at a time so you can determine what the limits are of the memory. Play around with them to find the best settings. If you run into trouble just clear the CMOS and start over. Make sure you have paper and pen to document the changes. The Cas timings are changed in the BIOS if your motherboard has these available. Some motherboards do not allow you to see and change the memory timings.

Yes, you can also run 4 modules in the system if it has 4 slots and still be in dual channel mode. Odd number of module will kick you out of dual channel. You can also run a set of 512s and a set of 256MB modules if they are set in the appropriate slots and all will be running dual channel.

could you run 2 512mb and another 2 512mb and have them both on dual channel. Having two dual channels instead of one?

im asking if it is possible to have 2x 512mb on one dual channel and if the other two slots left over if i were to put another 2x 512mb would that be dual channel as well to have 2 dual channels on the system. I would then have a total of 2gig of memory on my system for video editing. Is this timing any good, this is my timing i have 2.5-3-3-6.... cant get any better

If you have 4x512 MB sticks on a Dual Channel motherboard, two of the 512s will be on one channel, and the other two will be on a different channel. You'll still have dual channel, only two sticks will share one channel. There's no such thing as "quad-channel" or anything, where each stick of has its own channel.

2.5-3-3-6 are good timings. Try setting your memory voltage (might be labled VDIMM or VDDR) to 2.8 volts if it's not already, and try again.

Two gigs would be good if you use it... Most people won't use 2 gigs, so it would be a waste. Do whatever you do that takes a lot of memory, and monitor the RAM usage through the task manager. Does it go very far past 1gb? If so, then you might consider two gigs. If it doesn't even hit 1 gig usage (or much over it), then it would be a complete waste and would probably make the system slower instead of faster.

However, if it does use a lot of RAM, then yes, 2 gig would be good.
