RAM question (DDR2-800 PC2-6400)

I have two sticks of 1gb RAM DDR2-800 PC2-6400 and one of the sticks crapped out on me. I'm down to 1gb and I hate it.

So, I'm looking for two new 1gb sticks (or 2gb) but I don't understand the "-800" and "-6400" numbers. I know my MB can only take DDR2, but can I go with -1066 instead of -800?

Thanks

You can but it won't make a positive difference unless your mb supports higher frequencies. What mb have you got?

My uncertainty is exactly the point that you have brought up - is performance better or worse with the change from -800? If that is the best I can buy, then I'll buy it. I'm just unsure 🙂

I found my answer - 800 is the fastest I can get for this MB. Thanks!
