RAM problems

hi all this is my first post so be gentle, he he.
i have crashing problems on and off since new(about 3 mos old). it seems no matter what app i use (office, ie 5.5, games) this system will crash once an hour for a day or two then go for a few days very stable. i've updated all drivers, etc(bios dated june 2000-did not touch). i revently came across a prog called DocMem(zdnet).it makes a boot disk then runs by itself on startup w/o windows. i get a MATS+ error at address 06037440 (80M). it is expecting AA55AA55 and actual is AA5DAA55. i went to the software site and this issue is not addressed as co. is focussed on DRAM testing equipment. Could this be the problem? any insite would be greatly appreciated. i shure hoope its not as complex as the "coffe cup issue". thanks
system: win 98SE,p3700,128 mg OEM ram,geforce2mx,com21 cable modem.

Usually any error would indicate a problem.

When using DocMem, use the burn-in test as it is much more thorough. Also let the test run for a good amount of time (an hour at least) if you really suspect memory problems.

Usally bad memory fails more than just one particular test, ie. things like the Moving Inversion, and Burst tests also get failed.

i did a 3hr burnin and the only error i rec'd were the mats+. i emailed the report to the vendor and so the battle for dimm replacement begins. funny thing it passed the ontrack data advisor test. thanks for your help.

Try memtest 84. I posted the link to it here at Anandtech earlier this month. So you can search for it here and test with it. It works pretty good, so if you get errors off both mem and doc, i would think your ram is toast. Also have you played with the ram settings, I mean setting an interleave or setting it at lower speed/cas? that might help
