I have been trying to make a friends system a little more usable and upgrade his memory from 16mb. He has a piece of rubbish IBM Aptiva P166.. He currently has 2x8mb simms, and I don't know wether they are FPM or EDO. Anyway when I try to install 2x 16mb EDO (works fine on my p166) the system will not go past the boot screen at all. I have tried a total of 4 Sims on his system to no avail.
Could it be that his mobo does not support >8mb simms? Or do you think he might already have FPM and the EDO I am trying to install could be because of the conflict?
