RAM Problem - Please Help

Hey there guys. I just purchased some new RAM and am having problems. Here is a description of my setup:

Asus A8V Deluxe motherboard
AMD 3500+
Win XP Sp2
2x512MB Corsair XMS PC3200 TWINX RAM
ATI Radeon 9700 Pro

I just purchased 2GB of Corsair XMS TWINX2048-3200PRO. I am able to run the new chips in the blue dual channel memory slots of my motherboard, but if I try to hook up the other RAM as well my computer doesn't POST. I have had no problems at all with my previous set of RAM. I have all memory BIOS settings set to Auto. What can I do to get this RAM to play well together? Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Are all the DIMMS double sided? Some boards don't work well when all 4 slots are used and the RAM is double sided.

Hey there 😉 Thanks for the reply. I am not sure if they are double-sided, as they have a huge heat sink on them. Here's a pic of the new memory I just purchased:

And here's a pic of my older memory:

I'm sorry if that doesn't help any....I wonder if it has to do with different timings on the pairs of memory modules?

Thanks again for the reply! 😉

If you have a Winchester, you won't be able to run them all @ 400 Mhz. You'll need the improved memory controller of a Venice or San Diego.

I guess your last option is to just used the new 2 GB of ram and sell the old 2X512's. 2GB should be plentiful for one's use.

Thanks a ton guy for your replies. I don't understand why my Asus motherboard is fussing about this Corsair memory. My motherboard does work fine when I have either the new memory or the old memory installed, but it doesnt work when I have both installed.

FlyingPenguin, thanks for that link. Since I have two different types of Corsair memory with different timings, I will try different memory settings and see if I have better luck than I am having by setting all memory settings in the BIOS to Default.

Thanks guys!
