Hello........sorry for my poor English!!
I installed a 512MB memory stick on my motherboard but my Asus reads it as a 256MB one.
What's wrong with it??

Motherboard: Asus CUSL2-C (Intel 815EP Chipset)
CPU: Pentium III 800 Mhz
RAM: 512MB, Double Sided, High Density, Non-Buffered, Unregistered

Thank in advance for your help.

paola,

I believe the i815 chipset only supported SD-RAM up to 256 MB.

Unfortunately, SD-RAM now costs much more than the same amount of DDR RAM so it may be time to sell your entire current system and go for a new setup.

I can read on the user manual:
"SYSTEM MEMORY:Make sure the total installed memory does not exceeds 512MB.
Socket 1 (Rows 0&1) SDRAM 8,16,32,64,128,256,512MB (X1)
Socket 2 (Rows 2&3) SDRAM 8,16,32,64,128,256,512MB (X1)
Socket 3 (Rows 4&5) SDRAM 8,16,32,64,128,256,512MB (X1)
TOTAL SYSTEM MEMORY =MAX 512MB"

Anyway, if I install 2 memory sticks (2x256MB=512MB), the Bios shows a 512MB memory on bootup screen.

Crucial.com has a Memory Advisor? tool on their website. Although the mb is listed as taking 512mb maximum memory, crucial doesn't have any recommended memory higher than 256mb for that particular board.
