RAM Prices...

Does anyone know why RAM has gone up in price so much in the past few months? On 03/29/2003, I bought 2 sticks of Crucial 256mb PC2100 for $34 each shipped at Newegg. It's now $48. That's a 29% increase!

I was planning on buying 512mb of Corsair XMS for my secondary system, but the prices have increased more than I'd like. Do you think they'll go back down soon or just get more expensive?

march might be good... april theres a spike as people get their tax money back

this year? well, october is usually a slow month but then you get xmas demand spike

Maybe I should wait until October then. I don't have to have this stuff. I want to replace the Corsair 256mb XMS2700C2 in my other system with XMS2700C2 512mb or better. I'd add another stick of 256mb XMS2700C2, but I'll be putting an nForce 2 mobo in there sometime soon, and I've heard that two sticks of XMS2700C2 in dual channel are rarely stable at less than CL2.5...so that would defeat the point of dual channel.

Oh no $14 more! I remember when I bought two sticks of 512mb PC133 for $150 each then in a few months they were $50 🙁

As you get closer to the holiday season, prices should tick up.

Plus, a lot of DRAM manufacturers are shifting capacity over to flash because there is a shortage right now.
