RAM Prices Going Up?

Is it just me, or are system memory prices going up? I'm seeing RAM on Newegg that used to go for $69 going for $100 now ----- what's up with that?

RAM prices are never all that stable. It has been going up for awhile lately. I got two 512 sticks of Corsiar PC3200 XMS Platinum for $235 in November. Same package would cost me $303 now. It will almost certainly go back down in price, then back up, then back down, then back up...lol, you get the picture. Predicting when price changes will happen is next to impossible unless you make or sell the stuff or something major happens to the RAM industry.

Okay, well at least I'm not going nuts, others are seeing it too. Just seems too steep of a change to be random though. Has to be a cog in the pipeline somewhere for prices to go up that much. Either that or the memory mob families are in collusion, heh heh

I think the appropriate ending for that is "Thank you, I'm here till Thursday!"
🙂

They've been on the up for a few months - example:
several months ago, I bought a stick of GeIL PC3200 512MB at Newegg for $70. Cost today - $104 for the exact same thing.

The Taiwanese and Korean manufacturers are all reporting production problems, after reducing capital investments for years.

I know. I've been wanting another 512MB stick for awhile now. But the same stick I bought back last July for 89.50 is going for $130 now 🙁 And the stick I want to buy is going for $144 🙁
