All DDR has dropped dramatically in the past few weeks, PC2100 especially, and is expected to slip more. Standard SDRAM is on the rise though, and will continue to rise as well.

SuperSix, when do you expect PC2100 ram prices to hit rock bottom?
i'm planning to get a 512MB stick
TIA![]()

They should hit rock bottom in a month's time. Barton is out and Kt400A is out. The market would shift their entire attention to DDR333 and DDR400. Intel is making plans for a 800Mhz quad pumped bus so PC2100 chips should be pretty much worthless then.

I fail to see any logic in this post. New CPU/chipset introductions have nothing to do with memory market prices. "The Market" - What market? Gamers? Overclockers? That is a VERY small segment of the industry, and doesn't dictate prices. Prices are dictated by module availability/demand, demand being created by large system houses, Dell, HP/Compaq/etc., not the relatively small enthusiast's market.
PC2100 worthless? PC100 SDRAM is still readily available and selling briskly, don't forget the huge installed base of PC's that continually need memory upgrades.

Agreed. I got a chuckle when I read that as well.

in a nutshell, in october of 2001 i bought 2x256 MB of DDR2100 from crucial for $32 with free shipping, thats like 65 total, and not a 256 chip costs like 50. its on its way back down, but over a year ago, it was at rock bottom IMO
