Hi all,

I currently have Asus P4PE motherboard and need to get some RAM for it. The motherboard is rated for PC2700 RAM, however I was thinking to probably get PC3200 so I can use it in the next motherboard when the time is right. At the same time, my main concern is stability, so would you recommend to go with Mushkin high-quality PC2700, which is rated at 2-2-2 or generic Mushkin Soyo PC3200, which is 2.5-3-3.

Thank you in advance,
--Andrey

While Mushkin does make good memory... the best top speed memory is Corsair XMS PC3200... its 2-3-3 instead of 2.5-3-3 and its cheaper. Corsair is KING of high speed memory right now.

I am skeptical over PC3200, it still hasnt been certified by the JEDEC. Corsair XMS memory is by a long shot the best out there. If you want stablity I would go with PC2700 (DDR33) or if your into O/C'ing PC3200 (DDR400).

I'd get DDR 400 (PC3200) in either circumstances because you are right.. further upgradeability AND better potential overclocking.

Is this the memory you're referring to:
CORSAIR MEMORY XMS Extreme Memory Speed Series 512MB 64MX64C2.5 PC-3200PT With Platinum - Silver Heat Spreader:

Thanks,

Nope, you want the C2, not the C2.5. Btw, you can probably get it for $30-50 less if you buy it from googlegear.com.

Òry this link: http://67.122.98.100/jsp/ProductList.jsp?ThirdCategoryCode=011116.

Also, before I order, does anyone know what's the difference between these the top two modules they have listed there:

80097-1 : Corsair CMX512-3200C2PT 512MB PC3200 400Mhz 64Mx64 184 DIMM Cas2 Memory w/Silver Heat Spreader Retail
and
80097 : Corsair CMX512-3200C2 512MB PC3200 400Mhz 64Mx64 184 DIMM Cas2 Memory w/Heat Spreader Retail

Besides the price, they both seem to have the idetical specifications, so what's the deal?

Get the cheaper stuff, the only difference between the 2 is the material used in the heatspeader... dont worry about it.
