RAM only runs underclocked...what gives? With CPU-Z screen shots

I have this RAM, and this mobo.

The RAM should be running DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800), 7-7-7-18. However I'm running at this:

I'm NOT over clocking currently, running at stock speed.

So I go into the BIOS and try to set it manually to 1600, and 7 7 7 18....and the computer won't post. I have to reset, it tells me overclocked failed, and I have to restore to default settings (RAM settings on AUTO in the bios, which results in the 9 clocks and the 1336).

Update:
I set voltage to 1.65 manually in the BIOS, and left timings alone and just set it to 1600, leaving the rest on auto..and look at how bad the timings dropped..

This is seriously pissing me off.

How the F do I fix this?

The memory in my server is like that. It's rated for 800mhz but only works at 667mhz or lower.

Solution: buy better memory.

I had the same thing with another brand, Found out if you set all to auto the motherboard will always choose JEDEC in most cases, THis is a protection scheem for the MFG.
What I ended up finding was a bus ratio control but at the moment the name eludes me but some of the settings are 2, 1.5, 1.66, 1, And more options would show depending on what other manual options were set.
What took so long for me to find this was the Bios docs and the MB MFG website had nothing on these setting what so ever.
Dont try force the CL7, Just work to the 800 first.
You may want to over volt about .05 just incase the MB still isnt powering correctly.

Some of the AMD CPUs simply won't run "some" memory at 1600. You may want to speak to the memory manufacturer and see what they suggest.

thanks guys, it's majorly annoying me. I have no idea why the settings are running like that. It's not shitty memory, as far as the brand, I've never had a problem with them before.

Have you tried enabling XMP settings in BIOS if it has them? Most enthusiast X58 boards should.

7-7-7-18 is a faster SPD than what is listed in the table, why didn't you try 7-7-7-20? Those tRC values listed in the SPD table do seem too aggressive to me. Why don't you try 7-7-7-20 with a tRC of 40.

If that doesn't work, start with the values that AUTO came up with (i.e. manually enter identical values), and lower them 1 at a time.

That's not a bad idea....The RAM's rated 7 7 7 18...so if I cant get to that, or very close I'm going to be ticked.

I wish i could be more help, but i don't know new AMD boards well.

I'd really suggest posting your situation on the Mushkin forums; they'll be able to give you some settings to try.

It's likely a board + RAM thing.

Especially if you are running stock, you might need to increase some board voltages, since that kit is really not meant for stock running systems.

thanks for the link! I never would've thought to see if they had their own forums, I'm sure people there will be able to help.

FYI, XMP is not going to work with an AMD CPU. My suggestion is to run the memory at 1333 and tweak the timings as low as you can.
